Huawei has just released its latest flagship trio for the year — the Huawei Mate 40, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, and the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+. All three smartphones are powered by the new Kirin 9000 chipset which is based on a 5-nanometer architecture.

The SoC comes with the world’s first 24-core Mali-G78 GPU for an enhanced gaming experience. Of course, the Kirin 9000 does also support 5G connectivity.

That said, in its launch event, Huawei consumer business CEO — Richard Yu — also announced that the company’s smartphones will now be able to last for 36 months without any significant performance drops. To be precise, it’s expected that the overall performance may only be reduced by 2.5 percent over the span of 36 months of usage.

This boost in longevity will be noticed by long-term Huawei Mate 40 series and other new smartphones from the Chinese giant. Apparently, the previous Huawei Mate 20 models saw a 5 percent drop in performance over a period of 18 months.

The company’s slogan for this major breakthrough is “Born Faster, Stay Faster”. That said, it’s good to see companies beginning to improve the user experience for users in the long run.

Unfortunately, the Huawei ban imposed by the Trump administration has already done the company a lot of damage. And since Huawei cannot pre-load Google applications on their new phones, many reviewers are also having a hard time recommending anyone to buy Huawei’s latest smartphones.

This is despite the fact that the Huawei Mate 40 series packs some of the best hardware we’ve seen this year. Nonetheless, we will have to see how the Mate 40 series holds up over the next few years to know whether Huawei’s words hold true.
